The Whirley Brothers Bluegrass Gospel Music Group
Brothers Robert and Stoney Whirley are both lifetime residents of Dinwiddie
County, Virginia.
Their gospel group of musicians and singers varies by each performance but
always consist of local
friends of the Whirley family. All are seasoned players and singers and
have preformed many times
together in the area. They also each have a testimony that matches the
music they sing and play. Robert Whirley is married to Ruth Kathleen Talley (Kathy) and have two
children and two grandchildren.
Robert, on dobro, is owner of the Whirley's Tractor Repair Shop located on
the farm he once worked.
The older brother of the two, Robert has received VFMA champion dobro player
award twelve times.
Robert and Kathy are members of Western Heights Baptist Church in Dinwiddie
County. Stoney Whirley, on rhythm guitar, is married to Patricia Anne Gray (Pat) and
they have one son and
daughter-in-law
whom they love dearly. Stoney was employed at Brenco in Petersburg,
Virginia for thirty
years before
leaving due to an illness. Stoney and Pat are members of Poole Christian Church.
