Frog Tales

"Frog Tales" is a story I share when speaking about
the invention of the telephone.  Benjamin Franklin
was said to have flown a kite during a thunderstorm
and collected an electrical static charge into several
Leyden jars wired in series.  He coined the term
"Battery" meaning to "fire" (discharge) all of the
jars at the same time like a battery of cannons.
c.1752
However, it was Luigi Galvani around 1780 who
discovered that a "spark" while dissecting a frog
affected the dead frog's leg to move
leading to bioelectricity and electrophysiology
used in the medical field even today.

Our "Frog Tale" story does not end here.
Because of Galvani's discovery, Alessandro Volta
was able to invent the first wet cell battery
around 1800 that opened many doors for
inventions to come by William Sturgeon,
Samuel Morse, Thomas Edison, and
Alexandria Graham Bell.

Three major advanced fields of research from
Galvani's discovery promoted developments into
medicine, transportation and communications.
